Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, acne, pigmentation, uneven tone and texture — usually on the face, but can also be done on the chest, back and hands.
They can be done at different depths, from superficial to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles; improves texture
- Hydrates and plumps skin
- Calms Inflammation and improves acne skin
- Enhances product penetration
- Reduced dark marks; brightens skin
- Stimulating healthy new tissue growth
This depends on the type and strength of Chemical Peel applied.
Most Chemical Peels are well tolerated with very little/no discomfort. There may be slight itchiness/ tingling on application with minimal burning sensation.
Some Chemical Peels have an intense heat and burn on application but will subside within a few minutes.
they can be done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from
Some Chemical Peels leave the skin looking clean, plump and hydrated while other peels leave the skin warm, tight and dry directly afterwards.
Deeper chemical peels will cause visible skin peeling and flaking, usually occurring 3-7 days later.
Visible glow, “Ah-Ha” moment usually comes within 3-14 days, again depending on the type of Chemical Peel applied.
Although you will see an improvement after the first peel, a course of 4-6 peels is recommended for best results.
When treating pigmentation, a course of 6-8 peels is strongly recommended because pigmentation needs to be methodically lifted from the Dermis, upwards.
Once results are achieved, a “top-up” maintenance plan is needed.

At INTO SKIN, we use the Lamelle NOVA Microneedling device. The cartridges have 12 tiny sterilised needles that penetrate the skin at high speed; this causes a CONTROLLED injury (promise it’s not as scary as it sounds) The purpose of this treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue to; smooth, firm, and tone skin.
Rejuvenates, lifts and tightens, reduces pigmentation, plumps up wrinkles, minimizes acne scarring, improves the texture and condition of the skin.
They can be done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from

Microneedling can be slightly uncomfortable/painful…this varies from person to person, and also depends on the depth of the needle penetration.
But don’t worry! A numbing cream is applied to the skin before to minimize or eliminate any discomfort.
Redness and inflammation occurs directly after treatment, there may also be slight swelling, spot bleeding and slight bruising as well.
- 0 – 24 hours: Redness, tiny red/purple spots caused by bleeding (petechiae), slight swelling, heat sensitive with a “sunburnt feeling”

- 2 – 3 days: Less redness, fading of petechiae, reduced itching, dryness and minor flaking
- 3 – 4 days: Improvement of Dryness and Flaking

A topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated as the procedure can be a little uncomfortable. A slight burning sensation can be felt as the skin becomes heated. The anaesthetic helps to make this treatment tolerable.
You can expect to have some redness and swelling immediately after the procedure and for a few days following.
Tiny dark brown spots will be seen where the individual micro dots have been placed. You will be provided with post treatment balm to apply to the area. The dark spots should be left to fall off naturally as these are protecting the skin underneath. After about 5 days to a week, these will fall off and the skin may still be slightly red. Mineral makeup can be worn 24-48 hours after the treatment. Sun protection MUST be applied to protect the healing skin.
- 2-3 Sessions (12 weeks apart) are required for best results. Thereafter, maintainded 1-2 times per year.
2 to 4 Weeks Before your Treatment:
- Use a SPF50 to prep your skin especially if you are naturally darker skinned.
- Darker Skins/ Skins that struggle with pigmentation are required to use Lamelles Brighter Serum. This will help prevent the overproduction of pigment in the skin.
4 Days Prior:
Stop use of all active topical skincare products (such as Acids – AHA and BHA, Vit A) – Lamelle clients will stop Corrective RA, Ultra Renewal, Clarity PM Plus, Luminesce Evening Glow.
Immediately After Treatment
- You may experience a “stinging” sensation in the treated area(s) immediately after treatment. This is normal and it generally only lasts for about an hour.
- If the treated area is swollen, you may apply ice packs covered with a clean cloth. Do NOT apply ice directly onto the skin, as this can cause damage to the tissue. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, ibuprofen or steroids if possible. Take turmeric tablets 3 x day to assist with inflammation and pain relief.
- Do NOT cleanse the treated area until the following day.
- Do NOT exercise 48 hours after treatment or expose yourself to any heat, steam or sweat because this can intensify the inflammation that’s already present.
- The area that has been treated must NOT be covered with any dressings, sunblock, make-up, mascara, creams or any other products until the area has fully healed and scabs have fallen off.
- It is highly unlikely you will ever get an infection from a Plasma Pen treatment, as the wound caused is not open. However, the first 12 hours post-treatment is vital in protecting you from any potential infection, so please avoid any activities where you could expose yourself to contaminants.
Following Days After Your Treatment
- It is normal for the area that has been treated to be red/pink, swollen and feel tight and dry. Occasional weeping is normal and will settle.
- Expect redness, swelling and inflammation for the first 1 to 5 days post-treatment. This is normal but will usually be of a very minor nature.
- Tiny crusts will quickly form on the treated area. These may be visible for up to about a week.
- Do NOT pick crusts off as this will delay the healing process and could cause hyper-pigmentation and scarring.
- The area(s) treated may be cleansed daily with room temperature water and your fingers. Avoid using washcloths or any other washing devices. You are only removing excess oil and do not need to thoroughly cleanse the treated skin. Do NOT be tempted to rub, brush or exfoliate the area in any way to aid in the removal of the crusts. Pat dry with a clean tissue.
- Do NOT stand with your face under a hot shower for the first 3-4 days. This could increase swelling. Try to avoid shower gels or hair products running on to your face as this could cause irritation and inflammation. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water if products do come into contact with the area(s) treated and gently pat dry.
- Avoid swimming or chlorinated water as it can increase irritation.
- Keep scabs/crusts moist by applying provided aftercare three times a day – but only in small amounts, do not soak the area.
- You may return to work the following day. However, you will not look your absolute best during the initial healing process (approximately 7 days).
- Men should avoid shaving the treated area until it is fully healed (around 7 days).
- If you have had treatment around your eyes, you should avoid wearing contact lenses for 72 hours after your treatment.
- Once the scabs have fallen off (approximately 7 days), your skin may be a little pink. You may begin to apply your normal foundation/make-up/sunblock but avoid using skincare products containing glycolic/salicylic/Vitamin A/AHA/ scrubs or any other active exfoliating ingredients/devices for at least 21 days, as this will cause irritation. ABSOLUTELY NO MAKEUP UNTIL SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF.
- Avoid sun exposure. Once the scabs have fallen off, you must wear sunblock and a hat while your skin is in the healing stages (pink in color) and you should continue to do so for at least the next 12 weeks to avoid hyper-pigmentation.
- NO sunbathing/sun tanning beds for 10–12-week post procedure.
- Do NOT wax treatment area for at least 21 days, if not longer. If you are receiving Plasma Pen treatment anywhere around the eyes, wait the full 12 weeks. It will be ok to tweeze or thread any unwanted hairs after scabs have fallen off the area.

Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that involves a deep exfoliation by scraping off dead skin cells and “peach fuzz” with a scalpel blade, this leaves the skin smooth and glowing.
- Softer, smoother skin
- Dead skin removal – exfoliation
- Brighter-looking appearance
- Smoother foundation for makeup
- Vellus hair “Peach-fuzz” removal
While the thought of a blade sliding across your face is a scary one, it doesn’t actually hurt at all. The scalpel blade is glided across the skin in short strokes.
Skin may be slightly red directly after treatment, but will quickly subside.
Dermaplaning should be done on a monthly basis as a means of a regular exfoliation treatment, as well as a way to keep the skin smooth and free from facial hair.
No specific pre and post care required. As always, a SPF50 should be applied to the skin at all times. No active ingredients such as retinols and acids to be used for 12-24hrs post treatment. It’s recommended that no make-up is worn for 12hrs after the treatment.
